GEC Open, in association with OMA Emirates global golf tour made its debut in Spain with the national qualifying round held at the championship golf course at Real Club Sevilla Golf. Attended by over 100 leading golfers from the region, the contest as played in modified stableford format in two handicap categories – 0 to 13.4 and 13.5 onwards.
In 0 to 13.4 class, Darren Chang, playing off a 4-handicap, booked his berth for the world final with a winning score of 39 nett points.In the other division, Manuel Gonzalez Garcia claimed ticket to Dubai with a winning score of 41 playing off a handicap of 22.
