Naveen Wahi wins Prestige Masters Series to book Dubai berth
After six gruelling qualifying rounds that started in May, the Prestige Masters Series 2017 grand finale came to a commemorative end at the Prestige Golfshire Club near Bengaluru. Staving off a stiff challenge from a field of 60 finalists, Naveen Wahi from Prestige Golfshire Club emerged victorious to take home the coveted title. The Prestige Masters series was organised in association with GEC Open international golf tour as the Bengaluru leg of the 5-city Indian swing. With this win, the Prestige Masters champion also sealed an elusive spot on the Indian contingent for Dubai Corporate Golf World Cup- the world final of GEC Open 2017 in association with OMA Emirates.
Played in Stableford format, Naveen playing off a handicap of 5 carded 35 points tied with Dr Kartik Reddy who played off 11 handicap but was edged out by Wahi on count-back. The final podium position was occupied by Thomas Vellapally with 34 points off 8 handicap.
The Prestige Masters series is a premier golfing tournament that started in [2015] and has since become one of the most sought-after golf tournaments in the region. The fact that golfers travel from the whole of southern India to participate in the tournament is a huge testament to the growing popularity of the event. The 2017 series hosted over 700 top golfers in six qualifying rounds before culminating in an exciting grand finale.
Besides glory on the greens, the prize presentation was a lavish wine and dine affair, well attended by Bengaluru’s socialites and golfing fraternity.

Wahi will join winners from other Indian legs- Delhi, Mumbai, Jamshedpur, and Bhubaneswar to represent India at the world final of GEC Open 2017 – Dubai Corporate Golf World Cup. The world final will be on December 13-14 at two world-class golf courses in Dubai among winners from 18 countries.
